Letters to the Editor: United Methodist Church sticks to biblical beliefs over popular opinion

Democratic socialists lining up for presidential election.

The United Methodist Church leaders recently gathered and decided not to change its opposition to the ordination of avowed and practicing homosexuals as clergy members, and its opposition to the performance of same-sex weddings.

Scriptures of more than one book of the Old Testament and scriptures of more than one book of the New Testament agree that homosexual practice is sinful, and in the Gospels, Jesus teaches that marriage is between one man and one woman.

If the Bible is the holy book of Christians, the statement that homosexual practice violates Christian teaching is a true statement. Instead of revising what the Bible teaches to fit us, we need to revise ourselves to fit what the Bible teaches.
